A familiar face in our publication, Simesky+Fritch could be described as modern heroes with a knack for vintage material. As such, they favour 80s new wave and synth-pop flavourings, often building their tracks over shimmering guitars and dark, deep harmonies. You might think about the 80s as colourful and uplifting, but Simesky+Fritch privileges the more alternative and edgy side of that decade, drawing inspiration from British goth and new-wave records from that time.
Naturally, we find ourselves deeply invested in such luscious and evocative music. ‘SKALA.02’ is the strongest evidence of that, with Simesky+Fritch delivering a remarkable and engaging album, a retro record bound to connect with every nostalgic listener out there.
Building the project over the past two years, the international pair – hailing from the UK and Belgium – has built a niche but loyal following, hungry for arpeggiated synthetisers and spacious guitars.
