The premise of ‘Better Guy’, the brand new single from London-based pop artist Ivon Roberts, is most likely unlike any you’ve heard before. “A straight guy and a bisexual guy walk into a bar,” he says, “They see a girl they both fancy and a battle soon commences…”
Taking the form of an astonishingly infectious and upbeat synth-pop tune, ‘Better Guy’ sees Roberts teaming up with fellow Irish artist and producer Cian O’Donoghue. It’s a true match made in heaven, with Ivon’s sassy pop vocals and Cian’s smooth R&B style complementing one another perfectly!
Described by the pair as having a “folktronica meets synth-pop” flavour, the two-and-a-half-minute track packs a serious punch. It’s reminiscent of musicians like Ed Sheeran and Ariana Grande, but there’s an undeniable originality and freshness as well. Energetic, bubbly, full of life, perfect!
Providing a lighthearted yet sincere take on today’s courting culture with the addition of a little Dutch courage, ‘Better Guy’ is proof that music doesn’t always have to be serious to be exceptional.
