Windows Return with Lo-Fi Jewel ‘Fernwood Ave.’

‘Fernwood Ave.’ is as quirky as it could be. Built on sleazy suf rock and veiled psychedelia, the record benefits from a healthy amount of lo-fi energy and retro character, making it a slice of heavenly euphoria, an immersive listening experience drenched in hazy and misty tones. Penned by Californian outfit Windows, the single is the perfect example of the group’s authentic sonic identity. Shying away from trends and modern formulas, they pursue a style that’s edgy and personal, allowing them to connect with the most keen listeners out there.

Currently out on a West Coast tour, Windows is headed by Matteo Arias, who founded the band in 2018 with an eclectic mind. In it, one can find traces of Arias’ Mexican roots and a certain country lyricism, making it the ultimate blend of Tex-Mex art. ‘Fernwood Ave.’ is the perfect example of that, with its mildly lazy character and sunny contour. A truly timeless gem.

Speaking about the inspiration behind the record, Matteo explains: “An old work that I recently stumbled across while clearing out my desk. I decided to record the tracks in a true lo-fi bedroom fashion that fits the mood of the songs and teeters between a melancholy daze and joyful bliss.”
