You’ve been given a fair warning! ‘Ellipsis to Infinity’ is the sophomore single from Berlin-based alternative cellist, singer/songwriter, and composer Dalai Cellai. Described as “an ethereal neoclassical composition,” Dalai notes that the piece is about an eternal sense of yearning for something that will never be again. “It’s about a haunting nostalgia for a place or person that no longer exists,” she adds.
Haunting really is the perfect description for ‘Ellipsis to Infinity’. Incredibly intricate and emotive cello playing eventually meets the almost ghostly and airy vocals of the artist, crafting a tense atmosphere that lingers throughout.
Dalai is well-known for performing with famous bands like Icelandic post-metal act Sólstafir as well as the German progressive metal band The Ocean. That’s pretty good company to keep, and it’s easy to hear and understand why they enjoy having the musician on their side!
