It took us a while to capture ‘Pt. V’ real character. The latest album by mysterious Swedish duo DEGREES, the record is as ethereal, dreamy and eclectic as you could expect from an introspective and bucolic Nordic duo. You see, it is in the big woods of Northern Europe that one can expect to find inspiration, if there is any. They sure did, working on a long and passionate record that provides an absolutely unique sonic journey.
Built on dream pop and shoegaze references, ‘Pt. V’ channels bright and uplifting electronica, favouring noisy, arpeggiated synthetisers and thick drum machines. All of that is often contrasted with more organic, band-powered material, featuring spacious, chaotic guitar riffs and busy drum parts. As we said, textures and long sounds are one of the main features of the album, which enters hypnotising territories very easily.
Our publication is called ‘Mesmerized’, so you know that we appreciate such sapient sonic wizardry. Featuring nine tracks overall, ‘Pt. V’ has provided a listening experience we won’t forget anytime soon.
