Vessna Scheff Returns with Luscious Jewel ‘BUTTER’

An experienced multi-talented performer, Vessna Scheff is often found at the intersection between music and visual arts. Developing a unique and personal artistry that feels eclectic and kaleidoscopic, the American creative is known for her quirky and leftfield style, a sonic concoction that borders electronica, RnB and retro vibes. Following up after a 2-year recording hiatus, Scheff now returns with ‘BUTTER’, a record that’s light, passionate and playful.

Built over a light electronic beat, the track smells of early 2000s R&B and crepuscular electronica, pairing long textures with punchier drum machine-powered grooves. The result is an arrangement that’s polite, elegant and rather ethereal, providing the perfect artistic environment for Scheff’s vocals, extremely wholesome and luscious, often found delving into angelic harmonies and drenched in autotune and vocoder stylings.

Describing the inspiration behind the song, Vessna Scheff explains: “This song is inspired by a desire to feel playful, fun, sexy, and confident while navigating being a caregiver during the pandemic. I wrote ‘BUTTER’ inspired by Adult Skate Night (unofficially known as Black Skate Night at rinks throughout the U.S.) as a dreamscape of the freedom found on the rink”.
