A very welcome guest on our publication, Gary Dranow has consistently showcased his songwriting value and nuanced rock attitude, together with a high level of productivity and industry savoir-faire. Together with his band, The Manic Emotions, the Park City resident explores vintage rock territories and elegant lyricism, something that’s extremely needed in this age and time. Now, Dranow is back with a crucial and important message: taking a stand against the Russian aggression in Ukraine, he shares ‘The Cry of War’.
Sonically, the record is much heavier than its predecessor, with a distinctly hard rock sound that supercharges Dranow’s usual artistry. The perfect setting for such a dramatic and painful lyrical theme, the track also showcases Gary’s gritty and punchy vocals, perfectly fitting the overall aesthetic of the record. ‘The Cry of War’ also anticipates a longer album, ‘Never Give Up’, expected in the near future.
What’s more, the track gained traction on Ukraine’s top rock radio station, Radio ROKS, and plans are in the works to release it in the country very soon.
Describing the idea behind the record, Dranow explains: “This song chronicles the Ukrainian people’s fight against Tyranny and the right for Self-Governance. In the final verse of the song not only do the Ukrainians prevail but the Russian people as a consequence of Ukraine’s victory, rise up and overthrow Putin and his cronies and become a fledgling democracy!”
