Ross Freedman Shares Nuanced EP ‘My Enemy’

Emerging from Chicago, Ross Freedman is part of a perhaps dying breed of songwriters: solitary heroes, true artists, championing authentic, introspective storytelling and lyrical honesty. Drenched in personal experience, Freedman’s musical output is likely to connect with the listeners on a deeper level, standing as a metaphor for the quirkiness and unpredictability of human life.

‘My Enemy’ is the project’s fourth release to date, a stunning EP exploring all the different personalities of Ross’ songwriting. From intimate folk-rock offerings to more punchy and poppy anthems: the record is a true journey into Freedman’s artistic universe. Delving into themes of self-doubt, anxiety and loss, ‘My Enemy’ excels first and foremost in lyrical curation, with the American storyteller carefully pairing ecstatic imagery with introspective statements. We are confident that a large audience will connect with the EP.

Speaking about the uniqueness of his compositions, Freedman explains: “At first listen, they slip easily into what feels like the well-worn groove of an old favourite, yet their considerable nuance and subtlety mean they also stand up to analytical repeat listening.”
