There seems to be a plethora of incredible new full-length albums coming out at the moment, and none more so than ‘Struck By Lightning Again’, the latest release from Derek Lee Goodreid. Delving deep into the very soul of rockabilly and country music, the Australian singer/songwriter invites you into his world of love, loss, and the thrill of taking risks. “It’s an album that reflects the rollercoaster of emotions we all go through in life,” says Derek. “I hope that listeners can connect with these songs and find solace, inspiration, or just a good groove to dance to”.
‘Sinner’ is a short and energetic opener that sets the scene perfectly. A foot-tapping and perky rockabilly banger that just hits all the right notes! ‘Black Cat Blues’ then follows and as a warning to those with cats – it begins with two meows that your furry friend will not enjoy! As for the rest of the tune though, it follows a similar structure to its predecessor – super catchy and oh-so danceable!
Other tracks that stood out for me were the title track ‘Struck By Lightning Again’, the soul-stirring ballad ‘Ain’t It A Shame’, and the album’s closer ‘Lost & Alone Again’. To be frank though, one really should listen to the entire record from beginning to end. I guarantee you won’t be disappointed!
