Kelsie Kimberlin has taken over our blog in the past year or so. In fact, she’s become the musical face of the Ukraine resistance, helping keep the public’s attention on the Russian aggression towards its neighbour. She helps us not to forget, even at a stage where the conflict seems to become second-tier news. ‘Armageddon’ is Kimberlin’s latest effort, a song and video concept that directly ties to Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s appeal at the Grammy’s, where he urged everyone to “use their music to support Ukraine”.
Featuring a strong visual concept, ‘Armageddon’ is a rather anthemic and energetic tune. Built on rock-powered pop stylings, the track highlights Kelsie’s charming and fierce vocals, as she delves deep into the lies and injustice surrounding the conflict. Crucially, she also has a foundation setup, where you can donate to help the Ukrainian population: www.KelsieKimberlinFoundation.org.
Speaking about the record and its video, Kimberlin explains: “I am American-Ukrainian and I wanted to visit Ukraine in order to see first-hand the horrors that are taking place so that I could give voice to those who have been so tragically affected by the terror inflicted on innocent and peaceful people. As I walked through the areas depicted in the video, my hair stood on end knowing that families and children died right there.”
