The Cookie Jar Complot Return with ‘Tilidin Zidane’

The keen reader might remember reading about Luxembourg-based outfit The Cookie Jar Complot, having appeared in our publication earlier this year. Writing about ‘Oh Hannah!’, we proudly declared it a “high-energy and expertly layered banger. A sonic rollercoaster of epic proportions”. Now, the math-rock ensemble returns with ‘Tilidin Zidane’, a track that doubles down on eclecticism and complex riffing, something the band is very familiar with – and good at.

Channelling their inner Battles, among others, The Cookie Jat Complot oscillates between classic rock stylings and more contemporary, leftfield sections, offering a glimpse into their possible future evolution. The addition of metal plucks is very welcome, releasing the tension that constantly accumulates through saturated guitars and fierce drum parts.

Fresh from a series of important live shows, sharing a stage with the likes of Poly-Math and Interpol, The Cookie Jar Complot seems to be headed towards bigger audiences – and judging from what we heard, it’s not difficult to understand why. Their formula works, and so does their collective artistic alchemy.
