When getting ready to craft this very same article, we first started by putting ‘Blindur’ in play. Then something happened – we lost ourselves in other internet distractions, all while the record was running its course. It was one of the most magical experiences we have had lately. With mesmerising soundscapes and organic textures, ‘Blindur’ can truly induce a state of mild trance, providing the perfect escape from a reality that feels complex and overly chaotic.
Composed in Reykjavik, Iceland by R.M. Hendrix, the album aims to be a fictional soundtrack, using the power of long sounds and experimentation to create a hypnotising flow of sonic goodness, channelling its cinematic abilities while enhancing the listener’s daily experience.
R.M. Hendrix is adamant in explaining how shoegaze strongly influences the record: “I started in shoegaze. Moving into electronic music I’ve kept the textures and drones of my first love. Making an instrumental record gave me the freedom to bring those blurry sounds front and center. I hope listeners find themselves lost in the waves.”
