The keen reader might recall reading about Induna a few months ago, when we featured the project’s previous single ‘All My Love’ on our blog. At the time, we proudly declared: “InDuna has been rising steadily, constantly pushing the limits of his creativity and showcasing musicianship and lyricism that’s frankly impressive”. Now, the Auckland-based creative returns with a single that seems to navigate the same creative territories: afro influences with strong mainstream pop stylings.
‘Are You In Love’ feels refreshing, groovy and charming, the type of record able to make you dance and think deeply at the same time. Oscillating between poignancy, nostalgia and afro-induced euphoria, the record is a nugget of eclecticism, highlighting InDuna’s nuanced songwriting and powerful vocal tone.
Speaking about the lyricism behind the track, the New Zealand talent explains: “Are You in Love’ encapsulates the universal experience of meeting someone for the first time and sharing an immediate connection, while uncertain about the reciprocity of feelings.”
