Nope, it’s not a typo! It’s actually the brand new tune from singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Maxton Waller. Based in Los Angeles, ‘Greatful’ is the artist’s third solo single to date, and it’s a prime example of Maxton’s signature sound; upbeat, positive, and smoothly laidback. Looking to the likes of The National and Spoon for inspiration, ‘Greatful’ is filled with catchy hooks, a funky driving beat, Waller’s superb vocals, and a pretty deadly guitar solo towards the end as well!
As for the meaning behind the track, Maxton says that it’s a message to his partner that they’re safe just where they are. “We have a lot to be grateful for as is,” he says. “And sometimes all that it requires is to go outside, breathe some fresh air, and not get too caught up in our phones”.
While Waller’s name may not be familiar to many, there’s a good chance that his previous music might be. As a film score composer, he’s had his work featured in shows like Marvel’s The Defenders, the reboot of MacGyver, and Sons of Anarchy to name just a few. There’s absolutely no doubting his musical talents and, with each new release, he sees his fanbase growing. Striking a chord with all who hear him, we can’t wait for more Maxton Waller!
