Dogface and the Pony Soldiers Share Latest Album ‘No Better Time’

When we quickly glanced over Dogface and the Pony Soldiers’ press shots – depicting different instruments being played – a unique feature stood out: the performer was always the same. Dark long hair and a decisively creative outlook, the type of artist absorbed in his own creative mind. Well, that person is none other than Sean McCauley, the human entity behind Dogface and the Pony Soldiers. Hailing from Arizona, he champions a rather eclectic artistic outlook, balanced over folk, rock and Americana stylings.

‘No Better Time’ is the project’s latest effort, a long album that works wonders in exploring the depth of field Dogface and the Pony Soldiers enjoy. From singer-songwriter anthems, such as ‘Beauty Queen’, built on acoustic guitar and mellow vocals, to more gritty and raunchy rock episodes, such as ‘My Forever Home’, passing through mid-tempo indie-flavourings, the likes of ‘Eyes Open’. There’s something for everyone in the record, a sign that McCauley let his creativity roam free, wherever it might land.

Describing the inspiration behind the album, Dogface and the Pony Soldiers explain: “Finding peace and calm in a chaotic and aggressive world. Some of the tracks were inspired by the covid lockdowns of 2020 and the uncertainties in the modern world. Some are also inspired by significant personal health problems around that time. Some songs explore anxieties behind an ever-changing world, while some attempt to find peace with it.”
