Delving into ‘Memorias de Crónicas Futuras’ is an unexpected treat. You see, in a world where musical acts tend to sound like each other, Horizonte Lied pursue their own unique sonic outlook, offering the listeners a deserved break from the kaleidoscopic whirlwind of commercial music.
What they also offer, is a journey through lo-fi and obscure synth-pop, drenched in new wave influences and shoegaze-like ethereal energy. Emerging from Mexico, the group team up with SynthpopYourWorld Records to offer all the eclectic goodness contained in ‘Memorias de Crónicas Futuras’.
Introduced by ‘Destello Inmortal’, the record instantly reminds us of the prominent amount of synth and arpeggiators contained in it, further enhanced by spacious drums and filtered, psychedelic vocals. There’s an overall dark goo overlaying the track, something common to the whole album. That’s also what draws us to it, the sense of distorted nostalgia with sudden hints of vaporwave.
‘Por Tu Asencia’ stands out for its cinematic drones and more 80s-like electronic work. It’s here that we can perhaps see Horizonte Lied’s leftfield and experimental side. An absolute treat.
