A familiar name on our blog, Affentanz emerge from Germany with nuanced artistic energy. Boasting masterful production skills and an eye for eclectic electronica, the Cologne residents have made us used to mesmerising downtempo anthems, long pieces with rich soundscapes and quirky vocal efforts.
Following up on previous single ‘Hunterz’, Affentanz now return with a more saturated, punchy and haunting number, ‘Cage’. In it, the listener will be met with poignancy and cinematic energy, in what seems like a glorious variation on the project’s usual themes.
While still breathing downtempo electronica, ‘Cage’ caresses both electro-pop territories and leftfield, Nordic-flavoured electronica. The result is a record that feels hypnotising, while drenched in introspective and evocative vibes. Affentanz knows it well, marching on our sonic palate with a distinct 80s darkwave flavouring. We love it.
