Aaron Wylder Returns with Relatable EP ‘The King Of My Own Heart’

Reiterating how songwriting is his favourite tool for personal expression, Canadian talent Aaron Wylder returns to the music scene with an introspective EP, ‘The King Of My Own Heart’. In it, the listener will be met with friendly material, balanced on relatable tones and universal lyricism. Sonically, we are in country, pop and Americana territory, with Wylder crowning his vocals upon guitar-based acoustic shenanigans, often playful and upbeat.

The opener track ‘Down on Dopamine’ is exactly that: a relatable nugget of solace and comfort, where Aaron openly talks about how he’s not always feeling his best – and that’s okay: as he sings, “I’ll be just fine”. Following up, ‘Woman’ takes the pace down, navigating a more rock and indie imprint with impressive charisma. This time around the focus is on the complexity of human relationships, with Wylder explaining how he ‘needs a woman’ – in a world where interpersonal interactions are becoming ever more difficult, we are confident the listeners will resonate greatly with that.

The Victoria resident continues with ‘Horseplay’, a fierce ode to having brothers, then ending on a meaningful note with ‘On Your Dream’, a nod to never give up your deepest passions. As he explains: “Don’t give up. Don’t make excuses. Live the life you want to live and work as hard as you can to live it.”
