We last heard of DANII almost two years ago, when the Australian songstress unveiled her debut EP ‘I’. After a short hiatus, she is now back with her latest effort, a fierce and haunting pop jewel, ‘In The Dark’. Built over modern electro and trap influences, the record follows a rather minimalistic path, leaving ample space for DANII’s intense and evocative vocals, commanding the listener’s attention with unmatched charisma and strong energy.
Boasting a certain cinematic flair, ‘In The Dark’ has the potential to soundtrack your nights, perhaps when you need an infusion of fierceness and courage. Inspired by the likes of BANKS, Rihanna and Doja Cat, among others, the single is a further step towards DANII’s upcoming EP ‘Alpha Female’, expected later this year.
Emerging from Brisbane, the potential DANII has to offer is pretty clear. She’s not your typical popstar, refusing bright, uplifting tones in favour of darker and more poignant energy. It works well for us, and we are expecting the Aussie talent to be back in full force by the end of the year. Stay tuned.
