Club Solitaire Shares Introspective EP ‘Silent Exit’

Emerging from New Jersey, Club Solitaire champions a highly indie-driven aesthetic, favouring meaningful lyricism over pure sonic euphoria. A rather young talent, Club Solitaire seek to offer something new to the indie panorama, doing so through personal, introspective lyrics drenched in personal experience. The project’s latest effort takes the shape of ‘Silent Exit’, a double single/EP with two contrasting pieces, perfectly complementing each other.

‘Fine Dining’ introduces the record with a toy-like quality. The sonic references are vintage keys, organs and mellow drum machines, with Club Solitaire’s intimate vocals just floating over the track, often layered into chant-like harmonies. ‘Mental Pictures’ follows, slowing the pace down. It all makes sense when the idea behind the record is revealed: a relationship that blooms and then fails. ‘Fine Dining’ communicates the excitement of young love, with ‘Mental Pictures’ exploring what made it fail.

Describing the process behind his work, Club Solitaire explains: “I often find it difficult to share how I’m feeling, so instead I use music. None of my hometown friends are very interested in music, so I have kept my love of music-making to myself for the past three years. With my project Club Solitaire, I hope to make songs that people can relate to, dance to, and cry to.”
