Rye Catchers is the Milwaukee-based musical project of songwriter and producer David McClintick Roberts. Just a few days ago, he unleashed his latest single ‘Creeping on Me’, and it’s a ridiculously catchy and upbeat tune that features the exceptionally talented Nikki Simmons on vocals. Another artist involved in the track is legendary bass guitarist Tim Lefebvre, known for his work with the late David Bowie, Elvis Costello, Sting, and John Mayer to name just a few. They say you’re judged by the company you keep…It’s safe to say David’s chosen wisely.
Mentioning that the song echoes Rockwell’s 1984 classic ‘Somebody’s Watching Me’, Roberts has fashioned a tune that’s the perfect blend of pop and rock. It’s dynamic, bright, and extremely hooky! Add Simmons’ stratospheric vocals into the mix, and what you get is a real earworm that occupies your mind for quite some time.
‘Creeping on Me’ is the first release from Rye Catchers’ upcoming full-length album, though no release date has been given just yet. It’s an album that I’m really looking forward to hearing though. I think David and Co. are on to something sonically pretty special, and I can’t wait to hear what they cook up next!
