28to15 Showcases His Range on Debut EP ’99 Miles’

When I first heard ‘(Hey Hey) Beautiful Day’, the opening track from 28to15’s debut EP ’99 Miles’, all I could think to myself was “early Counting Crows”. As an ardent admirer of the latter, I must say that it has been some time since I stumbled upon a piece of music that exudes such reminiscent inspiration from the likes of Adam Duritz and Co. So, please excuse my excitement! An upbeat and carefree soundscape gets juxtaposed with dark and sombre lyrics before one of the catchiest choruses you’ve ever heard is introduced, and it sets the scene magnificently for the rest of the EP.

‘19.8 Miles on Average (Like a Machine)’ is the EP’s second song, and it sees 28to15 taking things down a notch (for a bit) and showcasing another side to his sound. With a powerful and passionate vocal performance, it’s another cracking and intense track that captivates the senses!

‘Bright Eyed’, ‘Broken’, and ‘I’m Alright’ make up the remainder of the EP, and each has a life and a soul of their own. 28to15’s ability to mix up and vary his sound is truly remarkable, and will undoubtedly appeal to a wide audience. If this is just the beginning, I cannot wait to hear what he has in store next!
