Steve Sperry Pushes the Limits on New Album ‘Then and Now and Now Is Then’

Biochemical Process Engineer by day and experimental EDM producer by night, Philadelphia-based Steve Sperry is pushing the limits of and breathing new life into house and rave music. His brand new album ‘Then and Now and Now Is Then’ features seven eclectic and genre-bending tracks that wonderfully illustrate just how gifted a producer Steve actually is. From the all-out banging opener ‘Flying Under the Ben Franklin’ to the mesmerizing and otherworldly ‘Needs and Wants’, it’s a journey through sonic landscapes that I guarantee you haven’t experienced before.

Three of the record’s seven tunes feature fellow Philadelphian and emcee vidpoet, a musician we’ve been keeping tabs on for a while now. The two worked together on vidpoet’s debut EP ‘Art Therapy, Pt. 1‘ and conjured up an album that takes you straight back to the golden age of hip-hop.

With ‘Then and Now and Now Is Then’, Steve, along with vidpoet, has crafted an auditory experience that needs to be heard to be believed. It’s seriously immersive and alluring, weaving a tapestry of sounds and textures that, technically, shouldn’t work together, but that’s Steve’s genius. While he might just be getting started, I get the feeling that Sperry is destined for big things. We can’t wait to hear more!
