Now, the London newcomer unveils her latest offering, ‘Real World’, a fierce and punchy track that shuffles her sonic references, jumping into grittier, rock-powered territories. We appreciate the change: it’s obvious how Aruna’s charismatic vocals particularly shine in such saturated settings. With her newly-found sonic direction, the young talent seems to also have delved into personal fierceness, delivering a message of freedom from societal pressure.
If ‘Confessions’ gained her the Rolling Stones’ Daily Music List as an artist to watch out for, we can’t imagine the highs that ‘Real World’ could get her. What’s important though, is that the project really seems to have come into its own. It feels decisively more authentic and enlightened, finally allowing us to appreciate Aruna for the talented singer and songwriter she is.
