We welcome ‘My Everlasting Isolation’ with open arms, knowing full well this won’t be the last time we hear about 7evin7ins. Rather, this is the start of a long journey for the Los Angeles creative, one that’s bound to push him onto bigger stages and wider audiences. How could it not be? The project has it all: rich, relatable lyricism, eclectic and emotional pop matter, and an overall edge that screams youth and common drama, something people always rally around.
A seven-track EP (coincidence? We think not), ‘My Everlasting Isolation’ serves slices of introspection and self-awareness, seen through the eyes of an intelligent young adult. Navigating the complexity of life, 7evin7ins finds himself often trapped in his own mind, a sentiment that we can perfectly understand. As he explains: “‘My Everlasting Isolation’ is themed around being stuck in your own head and being isolated because of it”.
Sonically, it’s all drenched in emo-indie-pop, with an overall grittiness and fuzziness that seems to refer to heavier alt-rock territories. Hip-hop-flavoured beats find their perfect place in the anthemic rap-punk embedded in tracks such as ‘In Love With The Pain’. There’s something for everyone – you just need to dig in.
