Wotts Raise the Bar Once Again on Latest Single ‘Boy + Girl’

It’s beginning to feel like I’ve exhausted my vocabulary in trying to convey just how exceptional an act the Canadian indie-pop duo Wotts are. With each new release, the charismatic pair of Jayem and Ricky 100 seem to raise the bar higher and somehow manage to exceed my expectations. Take ‘Boy + Girl’ for example, Wotts’ latest offering. While staying true to their dreamy and hypnotic signature sound, the duo also decided to experiment with Jayem’s vocals, introducing a more sugary and velvety sound to proceedings. To say that it worked would be an understatement!

“We decided to go a bit more stripped back and intimate on ‘Boy + Girl’,” says Jayem. “There definitely was a time when we would have been afraid to pull a move like this, but nowadays, labels are so meaningless”. Could Wotts be any more aligned with our principles and values?!

Serving as the final instalment of the pair’s three-track EP ‘Good People, Bad People’, ‘Boy + Girl’ once again embraces the sounds of contemporaries like Tame Impala and Dayglow. Crucially, however, that personal and unmistakable Wotts sound has been firmly stamped on the tune.

Yet another song that the duo can proudly add to their arsenal, ‘Boy + Girl’ solidifies Wotts’ reputation as pioneers who simply never disappoint!
