Vinnie-Dangerous Shares Melancholic Album ‘Dream ‘Til It’s Over’

We are always very selective with our hip-hop records; someone might disagree with us, but we are mostly drawn to the old-school, boom-bap sound, with a touch of eclecticism thrown in there for good measure. ‘Dream ‘Til It’s Over’, by American creative Vinnie-Dangerous, completely fits that vision, especially in its gritty, lo-fi production stylings, incredibly charming and evocative.

Opener ‘Left Alone’ showcases everything the record stands for; jazzy, soulful piano samples alongside low-pitched beats and a misty, cloudy sonic livery that wraps everything into a melancholic, murky vibe. ‘Found My Way’ is another gem, slightly more upbeat and catchy, always hard-hitting and relatable. The reflective lyricism common to the whole album is a fitting pairing to such malleable and engaging settings.

Speaking about the main inspiration behind the album, Vinnie-Dangerous explains: “It is dedicated to my son & my younger self. As I was creating this album, I envisioned myself from the picture on the cover playing with my son and what they would say to each other. Being with my son has helped me awaken my inner child again & has made me reflect on my upbringing while preparing myself to help guide his”.

Notably, this album is part of a trilogy, featuring: Yes, I Am A Dreamer (2016), Dream To Escape Hell (2018), and the aforementioned Dream ‘Til It’s Over (2024).
