The Casbahs Share New Music Video for ‘Roman Numerals’

Vibrant and slightly melancholic, ‘Roman Numerals’ is certainly an impressive effort. Penned by British outfit The Casbahs, it finds elegance in the shiny and expansive guitar tones and the bouncy, folk-flavoured drums, something that gifts the record a strong emotional character. Vocals take a lead role too, with Jack Walker showcasing his crystal-clear tone and nostalgic outlook.

Niall Fenwick, Joe Teasdale, Steven Grainger and Harry Mason complete a very talented lineup. Hailing from County Durham, the group originally released ‘Roman Numerals’ in their 2022 album ‘Been Here Before’. Now, they give the song a stunning music video, highlighting how the track is still very relevant and fresh two years later.

In it, The Casbahs treat us to hazy and gloomy imagery, well-fitting their nuanced and introspective sound. Speaking about the record, they explain: “It’s quite a mellow sombre song in both sound and meaning, going overboard on references, poetry and metaphors”.
