The Agency… Gear Up for Upcoming Album with ‘Harbour Song’

In this case, we took our time before putting pen to paper. ‘Harbour Song’ is an incredibly eerie, yet pompous offering, sparking instant curiosity in any keen listener. Built on a slow-paced folk-flavoured instrumental, the track is rather ethereal and cathartic in its sonic livery, wrapping the final user into an almost spiritual soundscape, a gothic-esque arrangement that’s ever so elegant and evocative.

Part of the charm can be attributed to the vocals, here delivered with a particularly ‘sacred’ flair, and organised as a call-and-response between The Agency… lead vocalist Steven K Driver and collaborators Elise Shields and Rosa Thomas (from The Samphires). The contrast between deep and dark male vocals and spacious, shiny female ones creates a wonderful tension, enriching the mysterious aura around the record.

Steve Beyer (guitar), Garry Cosgrove (drums), Andy Ludbrook (bass) and Scott Wall (piano) complete the stunning lineup. Hailing from Newcastle, The Agency… is slowly gearing up for an upcoming album, and judging by ‘Harbour Song’, we are in for a treat – make sure to follow the project on its artistic journey.
