‘Moonshot’ is quickly becoming one of my favourite tunes of the year so far, and that’s not a compliment I dish out lightly. Courtesy of Helsinki-based indie rockers Shakals, the danceable yet mellow indie rock masterpiece was written when the band took a creative trip to Malaga, Spain last summer. A track about staying the course and trusting the process, despite all the doubts and uncertainty that may swirl around you, ‘Moonshot’ drips with synthy goodness and evocative vocals. The epic chorus propels you into a state of complete euphoria, and before you know it, you’ve found yourself going straight back to the start for another round!
Shakals have been playing together for around a decade, though only put out their debut EP ‘2018-2020’ earlier this year. I can’t wait to give it a listen and, if it’s anything like ‘Moonshot’, it’s highly likely to become a staple in my daily rotation.
A band that undoubtedly deserves more recognition and a wider audience, I couldn’t be prouder to champion the artistry of this exceedingly talented outfit! Here’s to many more in the very near future!
