R.M. Hendrix Returns with Obscure and Melancholic Single

It is always hard to predict any R.M. Hendrix’s records. The visionary creative frequently navigates leftfield and post-rock musical territories, drenching his art with melancholic vibes and industrial energy. In fact, writing about Hendrix’s previous effort ‘Automation’, we described it as “a shock of adrenaline”. Now, the Iceland-based hero returns with a mellower gem, the incredibly evocative and nostalgic ‘What Passed Me By This Night’.

In it, the keen listener will be able to get familiar with the project’s obscure sound designs. From gloomy and intense guitar tones (bordering into shoegaze) to immersive, otherworldly vocals, passing through the many textures and electronic soundscapes, enriching an already compelling musical formula.

Lyrically, ‘What Passed Me By This Night’ offers a dramatic stream of consciousness steeped in personal experience. As R.M. Hendrix explains: “I’ve survived a tornado. I’ve survived a car crash. These moments remind me of how fragile and beautiful life is. In the daily routine, it’s easy to lose sight of this truth. But I know how lucky I am.”
