minus32heartbeat Impresses Again with Indie-Rock Gem ‘This City Shines So Bright’

minus32heartbeat is the solo musical project of Manhattan-based multi-instrumentalist and producer Matt Friedlander, former lead guitarist and songwriter for The GoStation. After bursting onto our radar with a dreamy and enchanting cover of The Cranberries’ classic ‘Dreams’, we are now proud to share Matt’s brand new tune ‘This City Shines So Bright’.

Serving as the second single from his forthcoming debut album ‘DHRICMV’, ‘This City Shines So Bright’ is an exemplary and unpretentious indie-rock offering. Delving into themes of isolation, disappointment, and betrayal, minus32heartbeat juxtaposes heartfelt and introspective lyricism with an almost ironically upbeat musical structure.

“This specific song speaks to a flurry of emotions I felt during the early onset of the COVID-19 pandemic,” says Matt. With a universal message and deeply relatable sentiments, it’s a track that is sure to resonate with listeners from all walks of life.

Turning to the likes of Oasis, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, Future Islands, and Longwave for inspiration, minus32heartbeat spends his days messing around with modular synths and guitar pedals. All of this has led to ‘DHRICMV’, a record that I simply cannot wait to hear!
