Martyrs Share Latest Effort ‘Where Did You Go?’

A record drenched in retro-flair and nostalgic energy, ‘Where Did You Go?’ signals the latest effort by Kent-based pop duo Martyrs. Following up on their first single of the year ‘Sunset Thinking’, the British pair this time around takes a more uplifting route, leaving behind emotional lyricism and post-rock tropes for something decisively punchier.

‘Where Did You Go?’ would be found in the soul and disco section of your local record store – if we were all in the 1990s. Built on a steady drum groove and funky guitars, the record also flourishes on a horn section, helping pack the track with anthemic flair while commanding the listeners’ attention with its eclectic character.

Jon and Michael are the talented humans behind Martyrs. Having been in the game for a long time, they are not afraid to be as diverse with their sonic references as possible. Speaking about the inspiration behind ‘Where Did You Go?’, they explain: “It’s a horror story set to a disco beat, with an infectious hook and sky-scraping chorus that will leave you unsure whether to shudder or dance. Do both, it’s fine. Everything’s fine”.
