Marble Raft End Their Hiatus with Dreamy Jewel ‘Rites of Passage’

Being lovers of anything ethereal, spacious and cathartic, we highly appreciate ‘Rites of Passage’. Built on expansive and dreamy tones, the single marks the welcome return of Swedish indie-pop outfit Marble Raft, releasing music after almost three years of silence. Serving as a follow-up to their 2021 album ‘A Geography’, the new record showcases all of the creative energy the talented duo has to offer.

On first impression, ‘Rites of Passages’ leaves the project’s folk tinges behind, instead heavily embracing their whimsical character. It suits them well: among Olle Söderström and Gabrielle Werme Baker’s warm and pensive vocals, the listening experience is incredibly nuanced and memorable, almost feverish at times. Fans of Cocteau Twins will particularly appreciate it, especially given the record’s nostalgic vibe.

The Stockholm-based pair is gearing up for an upcoming album, ‘Dear Infrastructure’, expected in spring 2025. We look forward to it: angelic and illusory, Marble Raft are exactly the kick we needed to augment our winter-powered escapism.
