KLEN Return with Elegantly Chaotic Banger ‘Compendium / Consortium’

If you don’t know about KLEN yet, perhaps you should take a hard look at yourself. Did your life go the way you wanted it to go? Do you have your priorities straight? Clearly not. Lucky for you here I am: in the midst of uber-polished pop music and social media-driven ephemeral hits, a quirky and proud band seeks to break the matrix – and the boredom you have been subjugated to.

It’s KLEN! A rapturous, elegantly chaotic and vigorous Cornish outfit with their priorities straight – unlike you, remember? Get this: their music is a kaleidoscopic flurry of electrifying punk and garage sonic goo, balanced between psych stylings and a healthy amount of retro references.

‘Compendium/Consortium’ is KLEN’s latest effort, a charming and playful anthem built on fierce and fuzzy guitar riffs, obscure, deep vocals and galloping drum grooves. Describing themselves as ‘freakbeat beatniks’, the group is particularly obsessed with the 1960s, making them stand out incredibly well in an industry that’s way too homogenous.

Describing the lyricism behind the single, the band explains: “A real-time narrative of a satirical fantasy board meeting at a multinational conglomerate”. Time to put on your KLEN hat and lose yourselves in their mesmerising and unwavering sonic tunnels.
