Kill The Kid Share Fierce EP ‘The Secret’

Fierce, rapturous and energetic; ‘The Secret’ is a guitar-powered slap in the face, a nugget of uplifting motivation delivered by the sapient musical expertise of London-based outfit Kill The Kid. Built on an eclectic blend of rock influences, the group champions everything from alt to hard rock, blinking an eye to a decisively southern character.

Partly nostalgic and partly unique, the band is careful not to overpower their material with excessively heavy distortions, instead controlling the sonic chaos in favour of malleable, charming vocals – a feature that makes the project suitable for a wide audience. Containing three snappy yet nuanced songs, ‘The Secret’ first opens with the title track’s galloping drums, driving a rather cathartic and hard-hitting bargain.

‘Justice’ follows suit, even though with a more controlled and playful output. ‘Do It All Again’ is instead the stand-out episode; introduced by a dramatic and legendary guitar solo, the song then develops into an anthemic and pretty powerful number.
