In 2021, the genre-defying Pennsylvania-based act Hot4Robot released their debut self-titled album. Track four was a tune called ‘Just Human’, and it quickly became a fan favourite with its unusual yet infectious 7/4 time signature and unforgettable chorus.
Fast forward to today, and the band has just put out a live and unplugged version of the song. Stripping away all the pedals and production, Hot4Robot embrace the tune’s raw emotional core and deliver a deeply intimate performance at the same time.
Exploring humanity’s deep-seated aspiration to surpass our physical and mental boundaries, and our increasing reliance on technology to achieve this aspiration, ‘Just Human’ speaks to the transcendent power and dangers of tech and AI. “Let our children never know disease, we want to create genetic dynasties, take the mistakes out of their DNA, and they’ll grow taller than sequoia trees”.
