Fugu Quintet Share Jazz Album ‘Interweavement’

Introduced by a heartwarming electric piano solo, ‘Interweavement’ soon reveals its true nature; an eclectic stream of jazz stylings balanced between tradition and modernity. Some would define it as avant-garde, but honestly, we prefer to see it as a simple evolution of classic jazz, here interpreted through a contemporary Western lens.

A six-track album, ‘Interweavement’ sees Russian creatives Fugu Quintet toying with a myriads of influences and sonic solutions, exploring electronica next to truly organic material; An instrumental masterpiece, the album seems to take a page out of the Bad Bad Not Good manual – Fusion British outfit with a wealth of values shared with Fugu Quintet.

The ethos of the record is greatly explained in a quote from the project: “This album is our attempt to demonstrate that human creativity has not been exhausted yet, our attempt to postpone the next great cataclysm which will be generated by the cultural asphyxia of our society. But that is not for sure…”. That’s why Fugu Quintet excel at what they do. Without setting limits for themselves, they navigate self-expression with pride and cultural awareness.
