Fake Bears Dives Into Rockier Waters on Latest EP ‘Fake Bears…but ROCK!!!1!11!!1!!’

Eric James is the brains behind Fake Bears, a Los Angeles-based solo musical project that began and ended in 2018 before being resurrected last year. The artist’s brand new offering is a four-track EP titled ‘Fake Bears…but ROCK!!!1!11!!1!!’, and it sees James re-inventing three old tunes plus introducing a new one.

‘Uninterested’, the EP’s opener, is the fresh song in question – and sees Eric dealing with the heartbreak of being ghosted by a love interest in an uplifting and energetic fashion. Capturing the saddening essence of unrequited love through a buoyant melody – it’s the perfect start to proceedings.

A reworked version of ‘Ascend’ then steps up to the plate, and takes the form of a positive almost punk-rock anthem about leaving the past behind, rising about negativity, and reaching towards a better life.

‘Terrified’ is the EPs third tune, and one that James has described as his quarter-life crisis anthem”. Realising the importance of growing up, it’s a rocky and lively piece of music that blends raw emotion with a driving beat.

Ending with the reimagined version of ‘scared of the dark’, I’ll leave it to you to discover this gem all on your own. All I’ll say is the entire EP is an absolute cracker, and we can’t wait to hear from Fake Bears again!
