‘Good Times for a Change‘ was an album I was absolutely hooked on two months ago. Courtesy of California-based singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Tamar Berk, it’s a twelve-track journey through a rich blend of genres and styles. Track two, ‘That’s Not a Lie’, was a crunchy and upbeat offering I really gravitated towards at the time, and just a few hours ago, Tamar unleashed a cracking music video to accompany the tune!
The music video is a thought-provoking visual feast that aims to capture the tension of interrogation and accusation and, ultimately, the sense of warmth and reassurance we seek from those who truly accept us, flaws and all. And can I just say…the Post-it notes idea… genius!
“This song is about communication, navigating relationships, and what we learn and accept about ourselves when we are confronted with truths that aren’t always flattering,” says Tamar.
I must be completely honest and say that, over the past few years, I’ve almost intentionally avoided music videos. They’re certainly nowhere as interesting as they used to be, but Tamar Berk has reignited my interest and pulled me back in. Proving that they still have the power to carry depth and artistic vision, she’s reminded me that, when done right, a music video can add a whole new layer to a song.
