Discover Pickpockets’ Emotionally Charged New Single ‘Beautiful Cynic’

Resonating with raw authenticity, ‘Beautiful Cynic’ is the brand new single from Brighton-based indie rockers Pickpockets. As their first official release since 2020s ‘Don’t Trust Anyone’ EP, ‘Beautiful Cynic’ is an emotionally charged acoustic ballad that sees the band exploring a fresh composition style. Taking on a less-is-more approach, the laidback and moving tune draws on inspiration from the personal experiences of lead singer Laurie McMahon.

“This song is a love letter that became an outlet for the emotions I was feeling when falling for someone,” explains Laurie. “It was written at a time that we were separated and travelling across the country away from this person inspired a lot of the lyrics that helped me process the things I felt”.

From headlining sold-out shows in their hometown as well as London, Pickpockets have been a staple of the underground indie scene since 2018. It’s my belief, however, that they are now ready to step into the spotlight and make their mark on national and international stages. Fully deserving of widespread recognition and praise, we can’t wait to hear what they offer up next musically!
