Cris Cap Finally Unveils Eclectic EP ‘Unrequited’

The keen reader will remember Cris Cap rather fondly; on a mission to explore the soul and funk universe, the talented producer and songwriter from Germany has been releasing nuggets of joy over the past couple of years, each one boasting guest soulful vocals and an eclectic sonic character. Writing about past single ‘Don’t You Cry’, we proudly declared it soothing and uplifting, intensely infectious and hypnotising”.

We stand by our words: Cap has certainly struck artistic gold, finding the perfect balance between personal glory and collaborative action. Teaming up with a plethora of UK/US singers and a selection of studio musicians, Cris now unveils a stunning EP that feels and reads like a manifesto of intent. Titled ‘Unrequited’ – also the record’s lead single – it showcases the delicate balance of traditional organic stylings with modern electronic elements.

If episodes such as ‘Howlin at the Moon’ favour real drum grooves and groovy guitars, newest additions such as ‘Unrequited’ develop into a more modern direction, layering electronic beats and samples over human-played instrumentation. It’s an eclectic concoction of sounds that works very well, ensuring the EP keeps its relatability, appealing to a wider range of listeners.
