Colin Woltmann Impresses Again on Ethereal Jewel ‘Saw You In A Dream’

From his work with Alabama Shakes guitarist Heath Fogg to his ridiculously beautiful previous single ‘The In-Betweens’, Colin Woltmann is a singer/songwriter who has truly piqued my interest. I’ve recently been getting seriously into his debut album ‘Brown Recluse’ from 2021, but today I’d like to introduce you to the Alabama-based artist’s brand new tune ‘Saw You In A Dream’.

Keeping things mellow and snug, Colin’s latest release is yet another ethereal and delicate folky offering. Through almost whispered vocals, he crafts a mesmerizing soundscape that gracefully balances melancholy and hope. Evoking a sense of nostalgia with each heartfelt note, Colin admits to penning ‘Saw You In A Dream’ in a sort of stream-of-consciousness state.

“I didn’t really know what I was writing about at the time,” he says. “But in hindsight, it makes me think of the idea of missing a particular feeling and looking for it everywhere. Or missing a person and feeling like you are seeing them everywhere…”

Along with ‘The In-Betweens’, ‘Saw You In A Dream’ will form part of Woltmann’s upcoming EP ‘A Case of the Times’. While no release date has been given, it’s a record that I’m practically salivating at the thought of hearing!
