Aleutians Offer Up Brand New Nostalgia-Laced EP ‘This is all we need’

Cheshire-based indie act Aleutians recently marked their first release of 2024 with an incredibly dreamy and emotionally charged five-track EP titled ‘This is all we need’. Inspired by bands like Death Cab for Cutie, American Football, Alvvays, and The Boo Radleys, Aleutians craft little nostalgia-laced gems that mostly focus on loves lost and chances missed.

Take ‘A heathen!’ for example, the EP’s opening tune. A classic indie-rock, indie-pop stunner, it delves deep into the poignant realisation of outgrowing one’s past identity. ‘Welcome Home’ is two minutes of pure sonic bliss, before ‘Only this time’ steps up to the plate. Bittersweet and heartfelt, it’s the stand-out song on the album as far as I’m concerned.

‘Megan in the mirror’ is a delicate, piano-led beauty that soothes the soul, and the EP’s closer ‘The sunshine comes with you’ is just the perfect way to wrap things up. A tune that speaks to all the struggles you’ve faced being worthwhile once you see the smile on your daughter’s face, it leaves the listener with a sense of hope and appreciation for life’s precious moments.

An outstanding EP in every area, I can’t wait to dive into Aleutians’ previous work. I get the feeling they have many more jewels up their sleeve!
