There’s always been something hypnotising in Proklaim’s powerful vocal flow. It’s perhaps the way he delivers his rhymes and lines: fast, hard-hitting and sharp. Or, perhaps it’s his deep, dynamic vocal tone, constantly crowning a beat to long-lasting success. Whichever way you look at it, we’d be wrong not to consider the Namibian rapper as one of Africa’s most talented, (yet) undiscovered creatives.
Following up on a very productive 2024, Proklaim now returns with his latest effort, ‘BITTER SWEET’. There’s a wealth of expertise in it, and after many rowdy, fierce records, we finally get a mellower, lighter episode. Built on a vibrant soul sample – something that inspired Proklaim greatly – ‘BITTER SWEET’ delivers a tale of emotional reckoning and mutual trust, all experiences through the talented rapper’s own personal lens.
Speaking about the inspiration behind the track, Proklaim explains: “The stunning soulful sample on the beat I purchased captivated me, and I decided to sing a hook ..ironically it’s a love song; my content is about love too, but from a slightly different perspective. The two still blended well, I thought.”
