Ethereal surf rock from the US. First-generation Polynesian-American artist Palms Psalm unveils superb debut single ‘Tide’, and subsequent debut album ‘Otuhaka’, out now.
An inspiring journey through their heritage and inner identity, Palms Psalm’s music concept began with a formative pilgrimage to Nukualofa, Tonga, which was deeply meaningful to them due to its connection to their father, Siaosi. Following their father’s passing, Pasi was determined to honour his memory and his heritage by incorporating traditional Polynesian music into more contemporary influences.
The result of this journey is a 13-track album that premieres as part of The Great Northern, an annual festival that celebrates Minnesota’s cold, creative winters. The Otuhaka release show includes a collaboration with video artist Nolan Regan Morice of Line Break Media, which will feature a live video installation.
