My Broken Integrity Returns with Personal Single ‘Empty Walls’

We don’t often feature metal records, and when we do, it is because we feel the material goes beyond heavy distortion and incorporates a big slice of melancholia and evocative charge. We feel as though that’s the case with ‘Empty Walls’: a liberating, fierce anthem, the track marks the return of London-based vocalist and creative My Broken Integrity, on a mission to pen hard-hitting, vibrant and personal pieces.

‘Empty Walls’ is exactly that. Oscillating between dark metal stylings and hardcore slickness, the record finds inspiration from the likes of Killswitch Engage, among others. My Broken Integrity’s powerful vocals oscillate between screaming and a deeper, darker tone, delving into themes of personal reckoning and traumatic experiences, in particular about the artist’s early years as an autistic child and teenager. From a production standpoint, ‘Empty Walls’ is pretty majestic, with ex-bandmate Marcus Osei Kingsley jumping on recording and advisory duties (done at The Walrus Studio in Forest Hill, London).

Speaking about the inspiration behind the piece, My Broken Integrity explains: “The story behind this release is the emotions I’ve felt from being isolated and unwanted due to the bullying and abuse I’ve dealt with. As someone who’s Autistic, it’s difficult for me to know who I can trust and who I can turn to about my personal issues.”
