Music Pitches

We were once musicians and creatives ourselves, and still remember all the anxiety, doubts and internal dilemmas associated with sharing our artistic endeavour with the wider public.

We don’t define ourselves as a music blog, a limiting and outdated concept.

Instead, we strive to be a dynamic media entity that empowers the connection between artists and their fanbase.

With storytelling at heart, Mesmerized aims to source the most exciting new music and bring it to a wider audience. We are particularly passionate about identifying, pivoting and activating audiences, empowering artists with new connections and valuable industry links.

Mesmerized is independently funded; for now, we rely on donations and contributions by both partners and readers, with the aim of slowly moving towards a self-sustained model that rewards independence and creativity.

Here’s the deal: you have two paths to submit music to us, and one of those is likely to fit you better than the other.

Editorial

Get in touch via the major submission platforms – we don’t accept unsolicited emails at this time. We also don’t accept unsolicited Instagram DMs.

Generally, we treat supported, donation-based content in the same way we would treat editorial, as we simply don’t publish negative reviews, only constructive and supporting pieces (if we really don’t like a record, we will not take it on).

If you’d like to support us and work with us on your latest record, you can do so on the Calendly down below. Supported content will set you back between 10 and 15 GBP, and will guarantee you a Mesmerized-branded article (full page layout), and activation on social media (we are focused on Instagram at the moment).

If you are in a position to do so, and if you think we are doing good work, we’d encourage you to use sponsored content. It helps keep the publication alive.

Yes.

Yes.

As real as it gets 🙂

Gabriel here: I founded the blog in 2022, emerging from a previous similar experience. I endure this miserable yet rewarding life on the music industry’s shorelines thanks to an internal obsession with building something that matters. Music is my life: born into a musical family, I went on to study drums and production for most of my teen years, culminating with a BA in Creative Musicianship in London. The last time I performed on a stage was in January 2020 (I miss it), before embracing the behind-the-scenes of it all.

For the past couple of years, I have also promoted independent shows in London, although that’s all on a hiatus for now. The financial model behind small shows is incredibly challenging and scarce; in fact I’d recommend booking shows directly with venues and skipping the middle man (although I can help and consult if needed, give me a shout).

That depends. Do you already have a strong audience you can rely on? Then, perhaps you can gamify your next release and focus on audience engagement strategies.

Otherwise, it’s good to have additional press features out in the ether. Attention is hard to come by these days.

Yes and no. The music industry has changed so much in the past twenty years, but its underlying concept is still very much alive: artists connect with their audience, the audience grows, the music industry jumps in to support and monetize that relationship.

Your focus should be on finding an audience.

The music industry manifests itself when there’s something to monetize. When there’s a product worth selling. That is you, your music and your audience. Focus on connecting with like-minded humans, and make music that has something to say (don’t appease trends! Don’t go for an overly generalistic sound!).

Or be an influencer, and sell records on the side. It does work sometimes! 🙂

There are people out there ready to listen – let’s find them together.
