Jill Blutt Returns with Exciting, Fresh Gem ‘Salt’

I’ll confess, the first time I heard ‘Salt’ I wasn’t sure what to make of it. That’s usually the first sign that something exciting is going on. When the brain cannot pinpoint a specific reference, it means the artist has managed to create a uniquely specific piece, a completely new aural formula that’s familiar and unknown at the same time. That’s what ‘Salt’ represent to me: a record that’s catchy and uplifting in its melodies, yet leftfield and fresh in its sonic energy.

Boasting an imaginative production packed with fuzziness and coarse beats, the single then features Jill Blutt’s charming, striking vocals, oscillating between distortion and dreamy, spacious tones. There’s a certain anthemic flair in it all, perhaps due to the galloping groove or the spoken word-esque verses. Hailing from Brooklyn, the talented creative and visionary had already impressed a fair few people at Spotify back in 2023, gaining editorial placements with ‘Nice2Meet2You’.

I am not always overly enthusiastic about a record, even if I am into it. With ‘Salt’, the impression is to have stumbled upon something incredibly precious, a forward-thinking blend of indie-pop and electronica that’s just waiting for the world to notice. It will soon, gaining Jill Blutt the recognition they deserve.
