Canadian Band OMENS Share Furious, Punchy Album

Such energy! Such punch! OMENS might only be a quartet, but they sound like an army of furious, rebellious musicians. Hailing from Canada, the group has penned a striking, haunting, homonym album, a slice of pure, unfiltered rock and metal euphoria in an industry that too often prefers to take it easy. No! OMENS do not take it easy. Their riffs are upfront, rude and fuzzy, wrapping the listeners into an aural journey that never lets go, an experience packed with charisma and spirited grooves.

Featuring members from seminal Canadian rock outfit Jet Set Satellite, very active in the early 2000s, OMENS seeks to honour the past with traditional flair, not really trying to reinvent anything – as they explain – but rather, to refine an already winning formula, putting punch and fury back into rock. Oscillating between heavy metal, grunge, punk and alt-rock, the Winnipeg-based band borrows the best elements from each genre, then distilling a personal, unmistakable sonic identity, very obvious in ‘OMENS’.

Delving into the ethos behind the project, vocalist Trev Tuminski explains: “Personally, I hate it when bands take their foot off the gas, try to be heavy for the sake of being heavy, or completely overlook the hook. With OMENS, we knew we weren’t gonna be reinventing any wheels, but we’d at least cover ‘em in mud and play ’til they fell off.” Mike Keller, Don Jacks and Mike Onufreychuk complete the talented lineup.
